The Years That Brought the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is the big finale of the annual championship that is the National Football League or NFL. The event was first played back in 1967 and has been played every year since.

The regular season begins in the summer of the previous year. The final Super Bowl event then takes place in the last week of January or the first week in February the following year.

There are an initial 32 teams that begin the event. Each team plays 16 games against their opponents to then see who moves into the next round.

When it comes to betting, looking at all the Super Bowl betting odds is hugely important as these can influence the betting decisions you make.

With the teams and players often having injuries or poor form, checking these odds can help you keep abreast of the latest likely winners within the Super Bowl.

What Makes the Super Bowl So Special?

The Super Bowl is the culmination of a season-long NFL championship to see which of the football teams is the best. There’s a huge amount of hype surrounding it, which results in its being the most watched sporting event in the USA.

Even if players support other teams that may have been knocked out before the Super Bowl, the event still turns out to be a highly watched event. In fact, all viewers, no matter who their supported team is, simply enjoy the spectacle.

The event is also marked by the fact that it’s not just about football, but also the other entertainment that goes along with it. For instance, there’s the prestige and excitement of who’ll sing the National Anthem to kick start proceedings.

There’s also the half-time show—the 2020 Super Bowl half-time event was Shakira and J-Lo—and even the ads, and trailers are hugely anticipated with many production companies dropping new trailers at this time, knowing everyone will be tuned in.

With all this going on it can be easy to forget to check odds, betting lines, and the like. We’ll be explaining all of these in the coming sections. Make sure you’re focused when it comes to placing your final bets on Betiton to make sure things go your way!

Who Is Hosting the Super Bowl?

Each year the Super Bowl is hosted by a different city. The 2020 event was held in Miami in South Florida, while the 2021 event is to be hosted by Tampa, the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The most recent cities that have hosted the event were all chosen based on the latest upgrades made to their stadiums when they apply to host the event. In addition, it comes as no surprise to learn that weather also plays a large part in the selection.

This is exactly why Florida does so well in getting hosting duties from the NFL as it has one of the mildest winters in the entire US! While the Super Bowl is held in a different city each year, the event is never hosted outside of the USA.

Dates of the Super Bowl

Next year’s event will take place on Sunday, February 7th—though currently, the time of kick off has yet to be determined. The 55th Super Bowl is already gearing up so we recommend checking out some NFL Super Bowl betting tips right now!

Betiton’s Short Guide to Betting Markets

If you access any online sportsbook, you’ll come across a number of wagers that are on offer. These wagers are the so-called betting markets or betting lines that we mentioned. Markets or lines are offered by bookmakers on their respective sportsbooks.

The markets are offered on certain conditions that need to be met for the wagers to be winners. These conditions can be anything that happen in the game. In fact, markets can be as simple as guessing the winner, to guessing the total number of points scored.

To help you make a decision on which market to bet on, the bookmakers will offer the odds associated with the market. We’ll explain everything about odds in a further section. However, it’s good to know that bookmakers calculate them.

You can find all of the lines we offer on all of our sports on our sportsbook. We offer markets of various sports on Betiton, including the UFC, hockey, baseball, and soccer. Feel free to browse through them to get a feel of what they are.

Fancy a Wager? Super Bowl Betting Markets

As we said, betting markets can be on anything that happens within a game—and sometimes even outside of it. To help you get a better idea of what markets consist of, we’ve provided you with a list of 5 betting markets we offer on the Super Bowl.

Outright Winner

This is the simplest and most common betting market you can ever find; in fact, you’d be hard-pressed not to be able to find it on any sportsbook. This market simply requires players to play on who they think the winner of the Super Bowl is going to be.

MVP Winner

A fairly popular betting market that requires players to correctly guess which player will receive the illustrious National Football League Most Valuable Player Award (or NFL MVP for short).

Offensive Rookie of the Year Award Winner

The next two betting markets will be regarding the winner of the National Football League Rookie of the Year Award. These are awards given to rookies, that is, players who are playing their first professional year.

There are many rookie awards out there but the NFL deems those given by the Associated Press (AP) as the official awards. These are the Associated Press NFL Rookie of the Year Awards, and they come in two forms.

The first is the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award which has been awarded since 1957. This betting market, therefore, has bettors attempting to correctly guess which rookie player will receive the award.

Defensive Rookie of the Year Award Winner

The second of the rookie awards is the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. This award has been going on since 1967. Thus, for bettors to win bets on this market, they’ll have to correctly predict which rookie player will receive this award.

Coach of the Year Award Winner

The final betting market that we’ll be mentioning is another one that depends on an award. This time, it’s the National Football League Coach of the Year Award. Although there are many such awards, the one given by AP is the most recognised by the NFL.

The Associated Press National Football League Coach of the Year Award has been awarded since 1957. This award is given to the coach who is seen to have the best season. Therefore, players bet on who they think is going to win this award.

The First Step to Smart Betting—Understanding Odds

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest events in USA sports—if not the biggest event of them all. With such a big event in play, there are a large number of Super Bowl bets placed, just as there are numerous basketball betting options in the country as well.

When it comes to making these bets though, you need to think about the odds and what they mean. Odds are the numbers that indicate the probability of an event occurring, as well as how much you’ll receive for a successful bet.

As we mentioned, odds are calculated by bookmakers. Bookmakers will use several sports stats to calculate the odds, including previous performances by teams, current composition, and so on. Moreover, odds come in 3 formats.

These are: decimal, fractional, and American. Each one of these formats will represent the same things in different ways, so choosing a format is merely a question of preference. To help you choose, we’ll be explaining each of them.

However, there’s a pretty good rule of thumb that equally applies to all odds, no matter the format. The higher the odds, the less likely it is that the event will occur; but the bet would pay out quite handsomely if successful.

However, while low odds are likely to be a win, they also mean that you’ll get a lower payout when you’re correct. It’s important to make a careful choice between your options. When deciding on your bets, you’ll need to balance the risks and the rewards.

Do you want to play safe bets without much of a payout? Or would you prefer to bite the bullet and play a risky wager? These are important questions to keep in mind. Now, without further ado, let’s explain how the formats work.

A Crash Course to Reading Odds

The difference between the odds formats largely is in how they show you how much 1) the bet is worth and 2) how likely it will happen. However, the formats differ as well in their geographical popularity, that is, where in the world these odds are used most.

Decimal Odds

Decimal odds are the most common odds that Canadian players will encounter. They are mostly popular in mainland Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. These odds use decimal numbers to convey their information.

These odds are generally considered to be easy to understand. However, there are a couple of calculations that players need to do to be able to fully understand what these odds indicate. Firstly, let’s look at how to calculate the probability.

The lowest possible decimal odds is 1, which indicates a 100% chance of success. Anything higher than 1 indicates a lower likelihood. To accurately calculate the probability indicated in the odds, all you need to do is divide 100 by the odds.

This calculation shows you how far from a 100% chance of success the odds are. Let’s look at an example: imagine you’re going to play on odds of 2.8. The calculation will be as follows:

  • 100 ÷ 2.8 = 35.7

Therefore, the probability of the event happening is 35.7%. On the other hand, to calculate the payout, all you need to do is multiply the odds by your bet and then subtract your original bet from the result. Don’t worry, it’s not complicated.

Let’s say that you’re playing $20 on the odds of 2.8. The calculation is as follows:

  • 20 x 2.8 = 56
  • 56 – 20 = 36

The payout, therefore, is $36.

Fractional Odds

Fractional odds are largely used in the UK and in Ireland. They use fractions to indicate the odds and can quite easily be understood with a couple of tricks. The first trick is to look at the numbers to determine the probability.

If the right number is bigger than the left, then the odds are low. If the left number is bigger than the right, then the odds are high. In fact, odds of 4/11 are quite low, but odds of 11/4, on the other hand, are fairly high.

The second trick is to figure out how much the bet pays by simply, again, looking at the numbers. If you take the right number to mean how much you’ve staked and the left number to mean how much you receive, then you can easily figure out the payout.

Looking at the previous odds we mentioned, odds of 4/11 mean that for every $11 you wager, you’ll receive $4 on top of it. However, odds of 11/4 show you that for every wager of $4, the return will be $11.

American Odds or Moneyline Odds

Finally, American odds are mainly used in the US, as the name clearly implies. These odds usually use three-digit numbers to present the odds, but they can sometimes have more digits if the odds are particularly high.

The numbers in American odds are also represented as either positive or negative. This shows either of two things, depending on whether the numbers are positive or negative:

  1. how much money you need to wager to receive a payout of $100 (negative)
  2. how much money you’ll receive on top of your wager of $100 (positive)

Therefore, odds of 275 show you that for a bet of $100, you’ll receive $275 on top of it. On the other hand, odds of -275 mean that you need to wager $275 to guarantee a payout of $100. At the same time, readers can easily see that positive odds are generally high, whilst negative odds are generally low.

Step Two to Smart Betting—Tips & Tipsters

It’s all and good to understand odds. Well, it’s actually more than that: it’s imperative to making bets that stand a decent chance of winning. However, knowing how to understand odds isn’t enough to make the best bets you possibly can.

There are many reasons behind this, including the fact that bookmakers’ calculations aren’t entirely accurate. In fact, different sportsbooks will show you different odds for the same game! There are ways to achieve accurate bets despite the odds.

One of these ways is to look up tips. Tips are betting suggestions that range from advising who to bet on, which sportsbooks to bet on, which odds to take, etc. Tips are given by tipsters which are sports experts.

Tipsters spend a lot of time analysing player form, team performance, team dynamics, and so on, to be able to give tips. At the same time, they’ll visit different sportsbooks to provide their readers with the best bonuses on the internet.

Tips are fantastic for beginner bettors because tipsters will provide their reasoning behind their speculations. This helps beginner bettors begin to understand what to look out for when doing their own analysis and research.

Which brings us to our next point: whilst tips are undeniably good, bettors should strive to do their own research for a number of reasons. Firstly, even tipsters aren’t all that accurate, and may easily overlook something that players pick up on.

Secondly, with so many tipsters out there, doing your own research will help you assess which tipster gives out the most accurate tips. Finally, wouldn’t it simply be more enjoyable to make bets on your own terms rather than following others’ advice?

Knowing How to Find Trusty Tips

The beauty of the 21st century is that most of everything is obtainable with the mere click of a button. In fact, a quick trip to your favourite search engine is all that it takes to find as many tips as you need, and even more.

With so many tips, you should read through them to find out which ones seem the most accurate. The best tips we can give are to stick to a gambling budget of money you can afford to lose; stay healthy; and to make time for important things in life.

The Favorites of the Super Bowl

The 2020 NFL Super Bowl is still fresh in our minds but this doesn’t stop the online betting world from getting into gear once again for the next event. In fact, though it’s just under a year away, there are already numerous predictions floating around.

Particular teams have already been labelled as favorites to win. The current favorites for next year’s event are this year’s winners, the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the Chiefs’ victory was a rather surprising Super Bowl score.

The Chiefs unexpectedly beat out the San Francisco 49ers in what turned out to be a thrilling game. However, considering the Chiefs’ not-so-secret weapon, their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, we wouldn’t be surprised if they pull it off once more.

Moreover, there are other teams who are already being touted to win the 2021 Super Bowl. Running in a close second at the moment are the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are closely followed by the New Orleans Saints.

After these three, the field opens up a little with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers putting up a hand for contention. Afterwards, there is a good number of underdogs, including: the Green Bay Packers, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Seattle Seahawks.

In these situations, Betiton is prepared, offering Canadian players the chance to get in touch with our friendly and competent support team through a couple of different contact methods. These methods are email and live chat.

How to Keep Your Gambling Responsible

It’s always important for players to be able to play and bet in a responsible and safe casino environment. While online betting can be a lot of fun, players often run the risk of it taking over and becoming overwhelming instead.

In order to combat this, jurisdictions such as the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority require casinos licensed by them to ensure there are safeguards in place to help and protect players in these situations.

To that end, Betiton offers players from Canada the chance to get help through the various hotlines on our site. We also have the option for players to self-exclude so that they prevent themselves from accessing our game library and betting markets.

This self-exclusion period is a long-term measure, and will not be reversed by the casino as it can only be reversed by the player who implemented it. We also offer milder measures that players can freely make use of to keep their gambling responsible.

These include deposit and time limits that limit how much money you deposit to the casino and how much time you spend on it. Moreover, we also provide information about the dangers of problem gaming and ways to keep gaming responsibly.

Finally, we absolutely don’t tolerate underage gaming and is therefore strictly forbidden. We expect all of our players with children to prevent it at all costs. Severe consequences will be dealt to those that don’t respect this prohibition.

Players who wish to learn more about how they can effectively prevent their minors from being exposed to gaming can find information on our responsible gaming page. We also provide links to programmes that help with preventing underage gaming.

Yes, you definitely can. To be able to bet on the Super Bowl, you’ll first need to create an account on Betiton. Then, deposit to your bankroll, and head over to our sportsbook. Feel free to browse through our available markets.

To find markets on the Super Bowl, however, you’ll need to go on our “American football” section. There, you can find bets on the outright winner of the league, in case you don’t want to wait all the way to February for the actual Super Bowl.

To find these markets, click on “Top Leagues” and then click on “NFL“. Afterwards, click on “Outrights” and you’ll be greeted with a list of odds on the outright winner of the Super Bowl. If you want to make a bet, click on any of the available odds.

Your chosen bet will then show up on the betting slip on the right hand side of the page. On the betting slip, you can adjust your bet as you wish. After adjusting your bet to the desired, simply click “PLACE BETS” and you’re done.

What is the spread on the Super Bowl?

Sometimes, it’s easy to predict who the winner will be in certain matches. This generally involves a game that sees a very strong team play against a weak team. Whilst knowing who the winner is can be good news, it’s not so much in this case.

These matches create an awkward situation for bettors since the favorite offers very low odds, whilst the underdog offers very high odds. To combat these situations, bookmakers came up with the spread bet.

The spread bet imposes a range of points between the two teams. The point spread favours the underdog, whilst giving the favorite a disadvantage. For bets on the favorite to win, the favorite have to score more than the spread.

Thus, for bets on the underdog to win, the underdog has to either win outright or lose by no less than the spread. Let’s look at an example together: if the point spread is 7, then the favorite have to score 7 more points than the underdog.

On the other hand, if the underdogs manage to win the game, then bets on the underdog win. If not, then bets on the underdog win if they lose by no less than 7 points. As readers can tell, this creates a situation where betting on both teams is possible.

Who is the Super Bowl favorite?

The current favorites to win the NFL Super Bowl are the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won the 2020 Super Bowl in an unexpected turn of events. Not far behind them, however, are the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Who is the underdog in the Super Bowl 2021?

There are many underdogs in the NFL Super Bowl. Notable underdogs include the Green Bay Packers, , the Los Angeles Rams, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Seattle Seahawks. These teams are predicted to still have some sort of chance at winning.

Then there are teams that simply don’t stand a chance—or so the tipsters and bookmakers think. These teams include the New England Patriots, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Houston Texans, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Detroit Lions.
