What Is MotoGP?

MotoGP is the premier competition in motorcycle racing, featuring 21 races annually across various countries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. You will see the biggest motorbike brands, such as Ducati, Suzuki, and Yamaha, competing for the prestigious trophy. These machines can reach speeds over 200 mph, making wagering on MotoGP a very entertaining pastime.

Here are some of the differences between MotoGP and Formula 1:

  • ✔️ In MotoGP, participants race on motorcycles, while in F1, they use cars.
  • ✔️ In Formula 1, the first 10 cars to finish are awarded points, whereas in MotoGP, the first 15 riders receive points.
  • ✔️ A MotoGP race typically lasts around 45 minutes, while an F1 race can last more than an hour.

Qatar Motorcycle Grand Prix

Qatar’s Lusail racetrack, which is 3.37 miles long, hosts the Qatar Grand Prix. The first race was held in 2004. This racing event typically happens at night because daytime temperatures in this region are too high. The heat significantly impacts tire integrity, posing a major safety concern.

The most successful rider on this circuit is Jorge Lorenzo, with six wins, while Aprilia is the most successful manufacturer, having achieved 12 wins.

Italian Motorcycle Grand Prix

Between 1949 and 1990, this motorcycling event was known as the Gran Premio Delle Nazioni, also known as the Nations Grand Prix. It was one of the original races on the motorcycle racing calendar. For the first two decades or so of its existence, this race took place at Monza, and then rotated between various circuits from 1972 to 1993.

Since 1994, this race has been held at the Mugello Circuit, a 3.26-mile-long track. The most successful rider is Giacomo Agostini, with 13 wins, while Honda has claimed 48 manufacturer wins.

British Motorcycle Grand Prix

British motorcycling races used to take place in the Isle of Man, but the circuit was eventually deemed too dangerous when Gilbert Parlotti lost his life there in 1972. The first British Motorcycle Grand Prix outside the Isle of Man was at Silverstone in 1977, before being relocated to Donington Park from 1987 to 2009.

Since 2010, the British MotoGP race has been held primarily on the Silverstone Circuit, which is 3.67 miles long. Valentino Rossi is the most successful rider, with eight wins, while Honda has claimed the manufacturer trophy on 42 occasions.

Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix

The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix has been held at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit since 1997. This 3.31-mile circuit is one of the most picturesque on the MotoGP calendar.

Before 1997, other notable circuits where this race took place included Eastern Creek, just west of Sydney, and Bathurst, located in central western New South Wales. Valentino Rossi has won eight times here, while Honda has 39 titles.

Japanese Motorcycle Grand Prix

The Suzuka Circuit was the main venue for the Japanese Motorcycle Grand Prix for years, but in 2004, it was replaced by the Twin Ring Motegi, which is 2.98 miles long. This was because it was deemed too dangerous due to its short runoffs and the presence of trackside barriers. These features cost Daijiro Kato his life in 2003, while badly injuring Alex Barros and Marco Melandri.

Marc Márquez has won five races here, more than any other rider, while Honda has been the most successful manufacturer once again, with 49 wins.

Betiton UK MotoGP Betting Markets

We provide a variety of MotoGP markets that address different aspects of this exciting sport.

Championship Winner

You can try to predict the rider who will go on and win the championship after all the races have been raced. The 2025 MotoGP season will feature 22 races and operate under a points-based system.

The rider with the most points at the end of the 21st race will be crowned the champion. With outright bets, place your wager as soon as possible, as the odds will shorten with each passing race.

Podium Finish

This is similar to each-way betting in horse racing, as your selected rider will win you money if they finish in one of the top three positions. Since each race has 22 riders, wagering on the winner of a race can be somewhat limiting, and you can increase your chances of seeing a return by opting for the podium finish bet.

Rider vs Rider

With this type of MotoGP bet, you must select the winner from two riders. Your chosen rider does not have to win the race; all that matters is that they finish in a better position than the rider they were pitted against. Such a market typically does not offer high MotoGP odds, but it is entertaining to try your luck on.

Without Driver

This market theoretically eliminates one driver from the equation, and it will usually be the driver who is the favourite to win the race. This is similar to handicap betting, as it essentially levels the playing field. It also makes it more interesting from a gambling perspective, as it eliminates the short odds of the favourite, allowing you to bet on one of the underdogs and have a better chance of winning.

MotoGP Betting Odds Explained by Betiton UK

MotoGP odds at Betiton UK are expressed in fractional, decimal, and American formats. We use decimal odds as the default setting however, you can switch between different formats when you engage in MotoGP online betting.

Decimal

These are sometimes known as European odds, since they are popular across Europe. The number you are given indicates the amount that will be paid out for a winning wager. For example, if you were to bet £10 on a rider to win at odds of 6.00 and they do exactly that, then you will see a total return of £60. This will be £50 gains and your original £10 stake.

Fractional

Fractional odds are most popular in Great Britain. The number indicates the amount you can win for every £1 bet. For instance, if you stake £10 at odds of 8/1 and it wins, you will receive £90 back. This would be your original £10 wager and £80 worth of profit.

American

These odds, as their name suggests, are popular in the United States. They differ in that they come with a plus and a minus sign. The plus sign indicates who the underdog is and the amount that can be won by betting $100, while the minus sign indicates who the perceived favourite is and the amount that must be wagered to win $100.
