There are a handful of table games that have become so iconic that no casino, whether it’s a brick-and-mortar casino or an online casino, would be complete without. One of these games is baccarat, which has come to be provided on online casinos both as a software and a live casino game!
Play Live Baccarat at Betiton Casino UK?
Any casino anywhere should provide a game as popular as baccarat, whether it’s the software version or the live casino version. On Betiton, players from the UK can find both versions, both of which offer their own brand of enjoyment with regards to baccarat.
If, however, our UK players are new to baccarat, then they can try out the demo version of the software version of baccarat; that way, they can get the hang of the game. Furthermore, we highly recommend that they read the following sections to understand how the game is played and what we offer on Betiton.

What are the Rules of Baccarat?
Whilst not as simple as slots to play, baccarat is quite an uncomplicated game. Any player can pick it up, even players that have never played any casino games before, meaning that baccarat is the perfect game for beginners that would like to play a casino game.
The first thing that players should keep in mind is that much of the “action” in baccarat is carried out by the dealer, and the only thing players have to do is place bets. This essentially means that all players really have to know is what bets are available, what they mean, and how much they pay.
Players have a number of bets to choose from but there are 3 basic and fundamental bets in baccarat: banker, player, and tie. The aim of baccarat is for either the banker or the player (depending on your bet) to get a score as close to 9 as possible.
If, however, you bet on tie, then you’ll need both the banker and the player to get an identical score. Otherwise, when a tie happens, the banker and player bets are refunded. The scoring works as follows: a total of 4 cards are drawn facedown, 2 for the banker and 2 for the player.
The cards are then turned over and their values are counted. If either the player or the banker lands a 9 or an 8, then that is called a natural and the hand automatically wins and no more cards are drawn. If, however, a natural isn’t scored, then a third card can come out according to a set of rules known as the third-card rules.
These rules are automatically applied by the dealer and players don’t really need to know them. It’s most likely that hardly any baccarat players know anything about third-card rules. After the third card comes out, the resultant scores are counted and the hand the value closest to 9 wins.
Counting the scores on baccarat works as follows:
- The values of ace to 9 are according to their face values; so, for instance, 7 has a value of 7.
- On the other hand, the rest of the cards have a value of 0, which means that 10s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings, have a value of 0.
When counting the cards, you can never have a score above 9. Unlike when you’re playing live blackjack, where a score over 21 goes “bust” and instantly loses, scores over 9 don’t lose, but they “reset” at 0. So, if a Jack and a 4 come out, the value of that hand is a 4.
Two-digit values don’t exist in baccarat, and so you can only have one-digit values. In fact, a score of 0 is actually quite possible in baccarat, and it’s actually known as baccarat. So, if a hand has a Queen and King, the value of that hand is 0; it doesn’t immediately lose, but it’s not a good score to have.
How to Bet on Live Baccarat?
Betting on live baccarat is quite straightforward, and works no differently to how it would work at a brick-and-mortar casino or on the software version of baccarat. You will be given a range of chips that you can use to place your bet, and a choice of available bets to make.
To place a bet, simply place the desired amount of chips on the bet or bets you’d like to make. You can adjust your bet before the dealer deals. However, once the dealer starts dealing, then the bets are closed and you cannot touch your bet until after the dealer has finished dealing.
What Are the Possible Bets?
There aren’t all that many bets that you can make on baccarat, meaning that players don’t have to remember a tonne of information before they can sit down and enjoy a good game of live baccarat. The most basic bets on baccarat are the following:
- Banker (Banco)
- Player (Punto)
- Banker Pair
- Player Pair
Firstly, to avoid any confusion, “banker” and “player” don’t refer to any specific persons, not even the players and the dealers. They’re only bets you can make in the game, and, as such, they’re the most basic bets you can make in baccarat. Banker and player bets both pay 1:1, or even money.
This means that for every quid you’ll bet, you’ll win a quid. However, it’s good to know that since banker bets are generally likelier to win, they have a 5% commission to even out the advantage. So, say you’ve won £20, £1 goes to the house as the commission.
When it comes to the tie bets, they pay 8:1, or £8 for every quid. On the other hand, pairs pay 11:1, or £11 for every quid. Pairs win when a hand is dealt to either the banker or the player, depending on your bet, and it happens to be a pair. Apart from these bets, there are some bonus bets you can make.
Bonus bets are extra bets that you can make on the side for some added fun. Amongst these bonus bets, players can find the perfect pair bets, meaning that both the banker and the player have to get pairs to win; or the Super 6 in No Commission Baccarat that pays 15:1 when the banker lands a 6!
What are the Different Types of Live Baccarat?
Whilst baccarat is enjoyable in itself, adding a twist here and there could serve to spice things up. Thankfully, industry giants like the world-renowned Evolution Gaming have come up with a number of baccarat variants that our players from the UK can play and enjoy on our platform:
- Baccarat Squeeze
- Lightning Baccarat
- No Commission Baccarat
- Speed Baccarat
- Salon Privé
Baccarat Squeeze focuses on the exciting and suspenseful moment of the reveal. The hand that has the highest number of bets backing it will be slowly revealed by the dealer, making for a tense experience. Lightning Baccarat works like regular baccarat, but an electrifying multiplier is randomly thrown in!
So, your win might be multiplied by a factor between x2-x8 completely at random! No Commission Baccarat gets rid of the commission on the banker bets; however, when the banker wins with a total of 6, the payout is 0.5:1, or half your bet, instead.
Speed Baccarat is for those players that enjoy faster games on the whole; rounds in Speed Baccarat only last 27 seconds, in contrast to the 48 seconds of regular baccarat. Finally, Salon Privé is a specialised baccarat table for players who enjoy betting larger amounts than the average punter.

Baccarat is a guessing game that’s played against the house. The aim of the game is for either th player or the banker to get a score as close to 9 as possible. “Player” and “banker” don’t refer to actual people, but only refer to the bets you can make on baccarat.
In fact, to play baccarat, you will have to make a bet on either the player or the banker (otherwise, you can also bet on a tie). 2 cards are drawn for the player and the banker; whichever card combination is closest to 9 wins! If both of them get the same score, then the tie bets win.
Definitely! All of our games at Betiton are available to be played with real money, so players can get their casino buzz! However, UK players should keep in mind that live baccarat can only be played with real money, as live casino is not available for demo play.
